SA: Appeal papers served for shooting
Appeal papers have been served on a man who was given a suspended jail sentence forshooting a newspaper delivery man in the face.
The papers, which outline the grounds of the appeal, have been handed to 21-year-oldPAUL HABIB NEMER, after being lodged with the South Australian Supreme Court last week.
NEMER shot delivery man GEOFFREY WILLIAMS in the face in 2001.
After plea bargaining, all charges against NEMER were withdrawn except for a chargeof endangering life.
NEMER pleaded guilty and last month was given a suspended jail term of three yearsand three months and ordered into a $100, three-year good behaviour bond.
The government later ordered Director of Public Prosecutions PAUL ROFE to appeal the sentence.
The hearing is expected to be heard in the Court of Criminal Appeal next month.
