NSW: Receding flood waters lead to fish kill

Receding flood waters on the New South Wales north coast have led to a major fish kill
along a 20km stretch of the Clarence River.

New South Wales Fisheries says dissolved oxygen levels in the river including from
Maclean to Ulmarra, are extremely low, making it difficult for fish to survive.

The department's director STEVE DUNN warns the public to expect to see large numbers
of dead fish along the river.

He says among the species affected are bream, flathead, mullet, catfish and eel.
