TROY - Members of the Rensselaer County Legislature are hoping that the federal government will step in to help provide protection and maintenance to the aging Oakwood Cemetery, which was the victim of a vandalism attack in March.
On Tuesday night, the legislature passed a resolution to go to the federal government in search of grant money to care for the historic cemetery.
"We are hoping that we can get some national support and attention for the Oakwood Cemetery," said Legislator Laura Bauer. "It deserves to be given the same attention as other historic sites."
